3 Classes In: My Honest Thoughts on CorePower Yoga

Let me tell you, I didn’t expect to fall for hot yoga, especially in this NYC heat. I’ve always been a more cool-setting stretching-before-bed kind of girl. But after three sessions at CorePower Yoga, I leave a workout class not only sweating but glowing, spiritually, mentally, and of course physically.

I’ve officially been three times during my free week (which you can sign up for as well), and I already feel like I’ve unlocked a new layer of self-care. If you have been on the fence about trying yoga or looking for somewhere to start, let this post be your sign, become namaste lol.

My First Impressions

I was bored in the house one day and decided to scavenge the internet to find a free workout class near me. The first thing that popped up was CorePower Yoga’s free week. I was very excited and was so ready to dive into a slow-moving session topped off with meditation. I got my meditation in, but slow-moving was not the case. So far, I have taken the CorePower 2 classes, which are faster paced and designed to challenge you. Picture lunges, planks, and sequences that we walk through at first, but move faster as we go (#ilovevinyasaflow). Mind you, it is also hot and as a girl who doesn’t sweat often just know I was DRIPPING. It’s like barre and bootcamp had a baby in a sauna.

All that to say—it felt amazing.

I was 100% confused and wobbly in my first class, but every class after, I’ve cultivated a stronger and steadier balance, flexibility, and a sense of openness. Now, what I love personally is that the last 10 minutes are devoted to winding down and meditation. I loved it so much that I decided to take my best friend with me for my third class!

What’s Happening in My Body (and Mind)

After three sessions and practicing what I learned at home, I’ve noticed a shift. I have always practiced yoga at home, but attending these classes opened me up to so many new poses that benefit my body. With CorePower, I leave energized, not depleted.

Hot yoga boosts circulation and supports lymphatic flow, both of which help with inflammation and hormone imbalance. So yes, I’m in it for the sweat, but also for the science.

What You Need to Know Before You Go

  • Bring Water. More than you think.
  • A towel is your best friend. I did not have a towel in my first session, and my mat turned into a slip-and-slide. Trust me.
  • You don’t have to be flexible. Instructors guide you and always advise you to pay attention to how your body feels. It is 100% okay if you cannot hold a pose. I always revert to child’s pose when I can’t.
  • Don’t eat too heavy beforehand. You will be moving A LOT.
  • Be on time! Classes start on time, so be there 10-15 minutes before.
  • No phones are allowed inside the studio. Leave them in your lockers!

Do not be worried about being “good at yoga. CorePower meets you where you are. The instructors offer modifications and gentle encouragement to make you want to keep showing up for yourself.

Why I’m Recommending It to You

To all my readers who are balancing hormones, healing their relationship with movement, or just looking for a new way to reconnect with their bodies, this is it. CorePower Yoga gives you structure without rigidity, heat without harshness, and sweat without shame.

It’s the kind of workout that feels like a reset, not a punishment.

And the best part? Your mat becomes a mirror. Every class, I learn something new, not just about alignment or balance, but about myself. How I respond to discomfort. Where I hold tension. What it feels like to breathe through the challenge instead of forcing my way through it. Yoga can help us guide us back to our true selves and ask us to face what we want to avoid.

Three classes in, and I’m already planning my next sessions. Doing these classes is not because I have to, but because I want to, and I am obsessed with the way they make me feel. Because for 60-75 minutes, it’s just me, my breath, and the awareness that this practice is becoming part of my healing.

So if you’ve been waiting to try it, this is your moment.
