Creating Hormonal Harmony: The Soft Habits I’m Starting This July

June was all bout learning and creating balance, in July I am entering with one goal: to start building. I’m craving a different type of glow up, one rooted in slowness, creativity, and science-backed nourishment. I want to build a rhythm that honors my hormones and gut health. As women with PCOS we often forget how important it is to shift from just consuming wellness content to actually creating a lifestye that supports our healing.

Here are the gentle, hormone-friendly habits I’m creating space for next month:

1. Bone Broth Mornings & Curating Fermented Friends

Starting my day with warm, mineral-rich bone broth comforts my nervous system. Next month, I want to start using my free time to invest in curating fermented products like sourdough bread, fermented drinks, kimchi, etc. There is so much fun in knowing that I spent the time creating things that benefit my overall well-being. I will also be writing about what I make, so sign up for emails so you never miss a post!

2. Longer Yoga Sessions to Reset My Rhythm

Way back in May, I wrote about starting yoga to pick myself back up from college burnout. I am here to say it has worked, but now instead of squeezing in 10 minutes, I’m leaning into spending as much time as my body feels I need. Some days, that may be 20 minutes; others can go as long as an hour. I started incorporating more poses into my flow and focusing on how my body feels rather than trying to perfect them. Yoga lowers cortisol, boosts insulin sensitivity, and gently supports hormone production. This habit has truly uplifted my mornings and softened my mind and body.

3. Getting Serious About My Supplement Stack

As much as I hate to say it, I am not taking any supplements at the moment, but I also find joy in not falling for the trap of having to take every supplement under the sun. For now I have decided to just focus on what my body needs more of, I’m finally sticking to:

  • Vitamin D
  • Iron
  • A high-quality multivitamin
  • Omega-3s

PCOS isn’t one-size-fits-all, but these are foundational.

4. SPF ALWAYS

In June, I was terrible with sunscreen application, especially as we faced some of the hottest days. Next Month, I want to properly support and protect my glow. That means:

  • SPF lip gloss
  • Full body susncreen application
  • Hydrating eye cream (my sleep schedule is not playing nice…)
  • Reframing my skincare to be hormone-supporting, instead of aesthetic

The most acne-friendly sunscreen that has supported my skin has been Eucerin Age Defense Sunscreen. Everyone’s skin is different, so please always consult with a dermatologist.

In July, I want to build harmony with my gut, my cycle, and my schedule. Nothing extreme, just choosing presence over pressure and softness without sacrificing science.

“If I had my way, I’d remove January from the calendar altogether and have an extra July instead.”
