A Photo Diary of Sunsets, S’mores, and Scripture

For the past few weeks, I’ve been slowly studying the book of Proverbs, one chapter at a time, one lesson at a time. Wisdom, guidance, trust, and commitment. This camping trip felt like the living version of it. During this camp weekend, where our theme was Fearless: United in Mission, we also walked through the story of Queen Esther. A woman who waited on God before stepping into boldness, who understood stillness before strategy. She embraced purpose, even when the timing felt terrifying. Somewhere between the sweetness of a s’more and the joy during sabbath, I felt restored.

Below is a photo diary of the still moments that reminded me: God is in the quiet, too.

A cheerful heart is good medicine.” – Proverbs 17:22

Better to have little, with fear of the LORD, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.” – Proverbs 15:16

Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly.” – Proverbs 3:18

Enthusiasm with no knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.” – Proverbs 19:2

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” – Proverbs 16:9

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” – Proverbs 3:24

Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work.” – Proverbs 21:25

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others themselves will themselves be refreshed.” – Proverbs 11:25

There is more hope for a fool than for someone who speaks without thinking.” – Proverbs 29:20

Lately, I’ve learned that wisdom isn’t always loud. Sometimes it sounds like a crackling fire, a breath of wind, or a verse whispered in your spirit.

Studying Proverbs has reminded me to root myself in truth. And Esther’s story, woven through our camp theme of Fearless: United in Mission, showed me that faith often looks like waiting, listening, and trusting the timing of something bigger than me.

Restoration is a part of the mission. God can use quiet moments, sunsets, s’mores, scripture, to prepare you for your boldest ones.

“Go, gather together all the jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.”

Esther 4:16 (KJV)
